DENVER, Colo. – After a stormy Saturday evening across Colorado, calmer skies will return tonight as scattered showers and thunderstorms fade. Temperatures are expected to cool quickly under mostly clear skies, dropping into the 40s in the mountains and 50s to mid-60s along the Front Range and eastern plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, isolated storms will linger into the evening before drier air settles in. Mountain communities from Estes Park to Breckenridge will dip into the low- to mid-40s, while foothill towns such as Golden and Evergreen hold in the 50s. Across the plains, including Denver, Fort Collins, and Greeley, overnight lows will settle between 56 and 66 degrees.

Drivers may notice damp roads late this evening, especially in foothill and mountain passes, but improving visibility and drier air should make for safer travel overnight. Residents are encouraged to unplug electronics as thunderstorms clear, since late-day lightning may continue in isolated areas.

Skies will remain mostly clear into Sunday morning, giving Colorado a quieter start before another round of unsettled weather arrives early next week.
