Colorado – Sunshine spills across the Front Range this morning, and warm March air is already building over Denver. By midday, the city will feel more like late spring than early March as temperatures surge into the low 70s.
Drivers heading along I-25, I-70, and the U.S. 36 corridor will enjoy dry pavement and clear skies through the afternoon. Light southwest winds and bright sunshine dominate the metro area today, creating ideal conditions for outdoor plans across Denver and Boulder.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, temperatures will climb to around 73°F today under sunny skies. Southwest winds near 7–10 mph could gust close to 20 mph during the afternoon as warmer air mixes down from the foothills.
The mild stretch continues into Tuesday with highs near 71°F and mostly sunny skies. However, meteorologists are now tracking a midweek shift as cooler air slides south across the High Plains.
By Wednesday, Denver will feel a noticeable drop. Afternoon highs fall to around 58°F, nearly 15 degrees cooler than the warm start to the week. Sunshine should still dominate, but brisk air will remind residents that winter still lingers in the Rockies.
Nighttime temperatures will dip near freezing Tuesday night with lows around 32°F, which could create patchy frost in outlying suburbs. Early morning commuters in Aurora, Lakewood, and Thornton should watch for slick spots if any moisture develops on colder pavement.
The pattern turns warmer again quickly. By Thursday, temperatures rebound into the low 70s as sunshine returns across much of Colorado.
Long-range outlooks suggest another stretch of above-normal warmth heading into late March as the region approaches the official start of spring on March 20.
