Denver, Colorado – Winter weather is returning to the Denver metro area today, with snow and slick road conditions expected through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Denver/Boulder, snowfall will develop Thursday afternoon and continue overnight, impacting travel conditions, especially during the evening commute. While Denver is expected to see lighter totals, surrounding areas will see more significant accumulation.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Palmer Divide from 2 p.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. Friday, where 4 to 7 inches of snow are possible. In the Southern Front Range Foothills, snow totals of 4 to 9 inches are expected from early Thursday morning through Friday morning.

Mountain areas, including the Park Range, Gore Range, Mosquito Range, and Front Range above 9,000 feet, could receive 3 to 9 inches, with localized higher amounts on peaks.

Forecasters say much of the Denver metro area will receive at least some snowfall, with lingering slick conditions possible into the Friday morning commute, particularly along the Palmer Divide.

Drivers are urged to use caution, allow extra travel time, and prepare for changing road conditions.

For commuters, even light snow in Denver combined with heavier snow just south of the metro could significantly impact regional travel routes.
