Denver, Colo. – Drivers along I-70 could face delays this evening as thunderstorms move across the northeast plains, with localized heavy rain, small hail, and wind gusts up to 45 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, showers and thunderstorms will develop over the mountains late Wednesday afternoon and spread east. While severe weather is not expected, storms could impact travel and visibility, especially across higher elevations and foothill communities.

Most of Colorado’s Front Range, including Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins, will see mostly sunny skies through the weekend with highs in the low to mid-80s. However, Saturday and Sunday bring a renewed chance of afternoon mountain storms, which may push east into metro areas by evening.

Residents are advised to stay alert for rapidly changing conditions near the foothills and to avoid driving through flooded roadways. Outdoor plans, particularly in the mountains, should be flexible due to the risk of lightning and gusty winds.

Showers remain possible again Monday, but dry weather is expected to return by Tuesday.
