Denver, CO – Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop across northeast and north-central Colorado this afternoon and tonight, bringing the risk of gusty winds and small hail. The National Weather Service said stronger storms are possible in the foothills and higher terrain, while the Denver metro could see scattered storms by late evening. Temperatures are holding in the low to mid-80s across the plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Friday and Saturday will bring the most active weather, with storms likely in Denver, Fort Collins, and Greeley during the afternoons and evenings. The greatest rain chance for the Denver metro arrives Saturday, when winds could gust up to 20 mph. Storm coverage will gradually shift to more isolated showers Sunday and into early next week.

Drivers should be alert for sudden downpours reducing visibility along I-25 and I-70 during peak travel times. Lightning and small hail may also cause delays on mountain passes, including Berthoud and Loveland. Officials recommend avoiding open outdoor areas during storms and securing loose items ahead of gusty winds.

Cooler air settles into the Front Range by Monday, with highs dipping into the upper 70s, though scattered showers will still be possible each afternoon through midweek.
