DENVER, Colo. – Colorado’s taste of fall will turn sharply colder next week as a strong front slides through, bringing the season’s first snow showers to parts of the Front Range by Tuesday. After a mild weekend with highs in the 60s and 70s, temperatures will tumble as the next system moves in from the northwest.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, a strong push of cooler air will arrive late Monday, setting up a mix of rain and snow showers across the metro area and nearby foothills early Tuesday. Some accumulation may occur in higher suburbs west of Denver, while light flurries could reach into the city and along I-25 during the morning commute. Drivers should allow extra time for reduced visibility and potential slick spots on bridges and overpasses.

Friday through Sunday will stay pleasant, with sunny skies and comfortable afternoons perfect for pumpkin patches and outdoor events. However, colder air will filter in Monday night, dropping lows into the mid-30s—enough to trigger frost and the first wintry mix of the season.

Residents should cover sensitive plants and disconnect outdoor hoses before Monday evening. Mountain passes could see the first measurable snow of the season, impacting travel along I-70 and US 285.

This next system marks a classic mid-October turn: a few sunny fall days, then Colorado’s quick pivot to winter-like conditions.
