Denver, Colorado – Scattered snow showers continued across the region Friday morning, creating slick travel conditions and reduced visibility along major roadways.

According to the National Weather Service Denver/Boulder, additional snow accumulations remain possible through the morning hours, particularly across the southern foothills, the Palmer Divide, and portions of Lincoln County. Forecasters said the heaviest snow totals and most significant travel impacts are expected in the mountains, foothills, and Palmer Divide areas.

Wind gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour are also forecast, increasing the risk of blowing snow and sharply reduced visibility. The greatest impacts are expected along Interstate 70 east of Denver, where blowing and drifting snow may persist into the afternoon hours.

The National Weather Service reported that roads across much of the Denver metro area and nearby plains may remain slick in spots, especially during the morning commute. Snow-packed roadways are more likely in higher elevations and areas receiving steadier snowfall.

A weather graphic issued early Friday showed most of the metro area receiving up to one inch of additional snowfall, while localized higher amounts remain possible south and southeast of Denver. Forecasters emphasized that even light snow combined with strong winds could create hazardous travel conditions.

Drivers are urged to use caution, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for rapidly changing visibility, particularly on east-west routes. Commuters, students, and early-shift workers traveling before midday may experience the most disruption.

Snow showers are expected to gradually taper later Friday, though gusty winds may linger into the afternoon.
