Denver, Colorado – A sharp drop in temperatures this weekend has prompted the National Weather Service in Denver to issue a Freeze Watch for much of east-central, north-central, and northeast Colorado from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, overnight lows between 25 and 32 degrees are expected across portions of Weld, Larimer, Morgan, Logan, Washington, and Phillips counties. The freeze could threaten unprotected crops, sensitive vegetation, and outdoor plumbing.
Residents in rural areas and higher elevations above 6,000 feet, including parts of Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties, are urged to take action before sunset Saturday. Gardeners should cover or bring in tender plants, and homeowners are advised to disconnect outdoor hoses and insulate exposed pipes to prevent damage.
The cold stretch marks one of the first widespread freeze events of the season for eastern Colorado, signaling an early shift toward winter conditions across the plains and foothills.
More advisories could follow if temperatures dip further Sunday night. Residents should monitor NWS Denver updates for changes to the watch.
