Denver, CO – Snowfall is expected to blanket Denver and surrounding areas starting Friday evening, with accumulations up to 10 inches in some locations.
According to the National Weather Service, the Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday. Total snowfall is predicted to range from 3 to 7 inches across Denver and nearby suburbs, with higher totals likely near Boulder and the foothills. Wind gusts may reach 30 mph east of Interstate 25.
Hazardous road conditions are anticipated as the snow combines with rapidly falling temperatures, potentially causing a flash freeze. Drivers should prepare for icy roads during the Friday evening commute and allow extra travel time.
Areas such as Summit County and the Medicine Bow Range could see snowfall totals reach 10 inches by Saturday. In lower elevations like Greeley, lighter amounts of 1 to 3 inches are forecasted.
Residents are advised to monitor road conditions via the Colorado Department of Transportation at cotrip.org and avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall periods.
