Denver, Colorado – A slow-moving spring storm will begin impacting the Denver metro area late Sunday, bringing breezy conditions and a chance of showers that could persist through Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, isolated showers and a few thunderstorms will begin developing Sunday afternoon, mainly over the mountains. Rain chances will increase across the plains Monday into Tuesday, with wind gusts up to 25 mph expected in Denver and surrounding areas.

Mountain communities above 8,000 feet—including areas in Boulder, Summit, and Grand Counties—should prepare for accumulating snow Monday night through Tuesday. Travel could be impacted on routes like U.S. 285 and I-70 through the higher terrain, especially overnight when snow rates may increase.

While severe storms are not likely for Denver, a few stronger thunderstorms could develop across the northeastern plains Monday afternoon. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, check road conditions before traveling through the foothills, and allow extra commute time as rain could reduce visibility.

The storm system is expected to exit the region by Wednesday morning. Additional updates and advisories may be issued as the system develops.
