Denver, CO – The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Frost Advisory for parts of the Front Range and eastern plains, warning residents to prepare for chilly overnight temperatures and early-morning frost on Friday, October 17.
According to the advisory, temperatures between 32°F and 36°F are expected from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. MDT Friday across Weld, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties, including the cities of Greeley, Castle Rock, and Limon.
Forecasters said the frost could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if not protected. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold,” the NWS advised in Thursday’s statement.
While temperatures within central Denver may stay a few degrees warmer, outlying and rural areas are likely to see widespread frost formation, particularly in low-lying regions near Pawnee Buttes, Kiowa, and Roggen.
Residents are encouraged to cover gardens, bring potted plants indoors, and disconnect outdoor hoses before temperatures drop. Colder mornings are expected to continue into early next week.
