Denver, Colorado – Scattered thunderstorms and heavy cloud cover could disrupt travel across much of Colorado on Monday, particularly in areas south of Interstate 70 and along the eastern plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, the storms will be most frequent over the mountains and foothills through 8 p.m. Monday, with a slight chance of stronger storms developing near the eastern Colorado border later in the day. Areas including Castle Rock, Trinidad, and Limon may see brief periods of heavy rainfall or gusty winds.

Temperatures will remain cooler than average, especially in the mountains, where highs will hover in the mid-40s to low 50s. Metro Denver could reach the upper 50s, while cities like Fort Morgan and Burlington may approach the mid-60s. Drivers along I-25 and I-70 should watch for slick roads and limited visibility during heavier downpours.

Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities during thunderstorm periods and monitor alerts for possible severe weather near the Kansas border. Cellphones should remain charged in case of power outages, especially in rural areas.

Additional updates are expected later today as storms track eastward across the state.
