Dodge City, Kansas – Drivers across southwestern Kansas should prepare for dangerously reduced visibility Thursday morning as patchy dense fog settles over the region, particularly near Dodge City, Pratt, and Medicine Lodge.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, the southeast portion of the area is experiencing fog-related hazards through mid-morning. Visibility may drop suddenly along U.S. Route 54 and Highway 283, especially in rural stretches where fog tends to pool in low-lying areas.

Motorists are advised to slow down, switch to low-beam headlights, and increase following distances. Emergency officials recommend delaying travel until later in the morning if possible, particularly for commuters heading east or southeast from Dodge City toward Pratt or Medicine Lodge.

No formal Dense Fog Advisory had been issued as of early Thursday, but localized conditions could still create dangerous driving scenarios. This kind of fog is common during June mornings when warm, moist air meets cool overnight temperatures.

Conditions should begin improving by late morning as sunlight breaks through. More weather updates will be issued if fog persists beyond the noon hour.
