San Angelo, Texas – Dense fog is creating hazardous travel conditions across parts of west-central Texas Thursday morning, prompting a Dense Fog Advisory through mid-morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Abilene/San Angelo, the advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. CST Thursday for Crockett, Sutton, and Schleicher Counties. Forecasters report visibilities reduced to one-quarter mile or less in areas of dense fog.

The fog is impacting portions of the Interstate 10 corridor, particularly in Crockett and Sutton Counties, where rapidly changing visibility may catch drivers off guard. The National Weather Service warns that these conditions can lead to dangerous driving situations, especially during the morning commute.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use low-beam headlights when driving in fog. Officials also recommend increasing following distance and remaining alert for sudden visibility changes.

The fog is expected to gradually improve later this morning as conditions change, but drivers traveling early Thursday are advised to remain cautious until the advisory expires.

Dense Fog Advisories are issued when widespread fog significantly reduces visibility and increases the risk of traffic accidents.
