Quad Cities, IA/IL – The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities reports that dense fog has developed early this morning across portions of northeast and east-central Iowa, including the Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Iowa City areas.

Lingering surface moisture from recent rainfall combined with light winds is allowing fog to form and thicken, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less in some locations.

The fog is expected to persist through mid-morning, gradually improving after sunrise as temperatures rise and winds increase slightly.

Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time, use low-beam headlights, and reduce speed in foggy conditions. Visibility may change suddenly over short distances.
