Quad Cities, IA-IL – A dense fog advisory is in effect for much of eastern Iowa, northwest Illinois, and northeast Missouri this morning, making travel conditions potentially hazardous. Visibility is reduced to one-quarter mile or less in several areas, with the advisory extending until 10 a.m. CST in some locations and noon CST in others.

According to the National Weather Service, the affected counties include Benton, Linn, Johnson, Scott, Dubuque, and Jackson in Iowa, and Jo Daviess, Rock Island, and Whiteside in Illinois. Portions of northeast Missouri are also impacted, including Clark and Scotland counties. Drivers should anticipate slick roadways in areas where pavement temperatures are near freezing, adding to the danger.

Officials urge drivers to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain greater stopping distances. With visibility severely reduced, extra caution is essential for morning commuters and holiday travelers.

Dense fog advisories often cause delays on highways and interstates, including I-80 and I-74. Local residents are encouraged to avoid nonessential travel until conditions improve.
