Mobile, AL – A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for coastal waters in Alabama and northwest Florida, including Mobile Bay, Mississippi Sound, and the Pensacola Bay system. The advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 9 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile.
The NWS reports that fog will reduce visibility to 1 nautical mile or less, creating hazardous conditions for boaters. While conditions may improve during the day, fog is expected to thicken overnight, making navigation especially difficult in the early morning hours.
Mariners are urged to use caution, activate fog signals, and rely on radar and compasses for safe travel. The NWS warns that visibility may rapidly change, increasing the risk of accidents on the water.
