Goodland, KS – The National Weather Service in Goodland has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for portions of northwest and west-central Kansas and southwest Nebraska, in effect until 11 a.m. CDT (10 a.m. MDT) Saturday, October 25, 2025.

According to the National Weather Service, visibility will drop to one-quarter mile or less in dense fog overnight and into Saturday morning. The advisory includes Cheyenne, Rawlins, Decatur, Norton, Sherman, Thomas, Sheridan, and Graham Counties in Kansas, and Dundy, Hitchcock, and Red Willow Counties in Nebraska.

Cities affected include Goodland, Colby, Hill City, Atwood, McCook, and Norton, where patchy fog will expand overnight. Forecasters warn that the thick fog could make driving conditions hazardous, especially along Interstate 70 and U.S. Highways 36 and 83.

Residents are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time when driving through fog. Conditions are expected to improve by late Saturday morning as visibility increases.

Western portions of the advisory area may not see fog develop until later in the evening, with the densest fog forming closer to daybreak.
