Hastings, NE – Thick fog will blanket portions of western and central Kansas and southern Nebraska overnight, leading to dangerously low visibility and hazardous travel conditions into Sunday morning.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Hastings and Goodland, a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect from 7 PM Saturday to 11 AM Sunday (CDT) for areas including Phillipsburg, Norton, Colby, Hill City, Smith Center, McCook, Holdrege, and Kearney.

Visibility is expected to drop to a quarter mile or less at times. Forecasters caution that wildlife, stalled vehicles, or other road obstacles may be difficult to see, and that drivers should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra time for travel.

The advisory affects multiple Kansas counties — including Osborne, Rooks, Graham, and Thomas — and extends north into southern Nebraska, covering Franklin, Harlan, Furnas, Phelps, and Gosper Counties.

Conditions should gradually improve after mid to late Sunday morning as fog lifts and visibility returns to normal.
