Philadelphia, PA – Much of the Mid-Atlantic will swelter under summer sunshine Sunday, with highs reaching the low 90s and humidity beginning to build, especially in southern New Jersey and Delaware.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, temperatures will top out between 88°F and 92°F across the region, with the highest readings in places like Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Vineland. Light winds and mostly sunny skies will dominate inland areas, while a 20–30% chance of isolated thunderstorms lingers in coastal zones of southern New Jersey and the Delmarva Peninsula due to sea and bay breezes.

Cities such as Atlantic City, Cape May, and Dover may experience pop-up showers late in the afternoon, potentially disrupting beach plans or outdoor events. While severe weather isn’t expected, brief downpours and gusty winds are possible in any isolated storms.

Residents should stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and limit strenuous activity during peak heat hours, especially in urban centers where pavement intensifies heat. Sunday’s heat may mark the beginning of a warmer, more active pattern across the region.

Similar weather is expected Monday, with broader chances for showers and storms developing statewide.
