Dover, DE – Delaware residents should prepare for their coldest night of the fall so far as an Arctic front sweeps through the Mid-Atlantic early next week. According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, temperatures will tumble statewide Monday night, November 10, into Tuesday morning, November 11, bringing widespread frost and freezing conditions from Wilmington to the beaches.

Forecasters expect overnight lows to dip into the upper-20s to near 30 across interior areas, while coastal towns along the Delaware Bay and Atlantic shorelines could hover just above freezing. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ, is expected to issue frost and freeze alerts for most of the state as the cold air settles in behind the front.

This marks Delaware’s first widespread hard freeze of the season, signaling the official end of the growing season for all counties. Northwest winds will gust between 20 and 30 mph Monday evening, making it feel several degrees colder.

The Weather Prediction Center’s Day 3–7 Hazards Outlook places Delaware within a broad “Frost/Freeze” risk zone that stretches from Mississippi to New England. Forecasters say the magnitude of the cold wave is unusual for early November and could produce record lows in isolated inland locations.

Tuesday’s highs will only reach the low-40s, around 15 degrees below normal, before a gradual midweek rebound.

Residents are advised to bring in potted plants, wrap exposed pipes, and provide warm shelter for pets overnight. Drivers should also use caution Tuesday morning, as patchy frost could create slick spots on bridges and shaded roads.
