Wilmington, DE – A colder and more unsettled weather pattern is expected across Delaware from Nov. 29th through Dec. 5th, bringing chances for cold rain, wintry mix, and the first hints of early-winter conditions as December begins.

According to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, temperatures throughout this period are forecast to run below normal statewide, including northern Delaware around Wilmington, central areas such as Dover, and the southern coastline near Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. Overnight lows, especially inland, may dip to or below freezing at times — increasing the possibility of mixed precipitation if storms pass through during colder periods.

NOAA’s precipitation outlook shows a strong signal for above-normal precipitation across Delaware, suggesting several disturbances may move across the Mid-Atlantic through the first week of December. Wilmington and the northern I-95 corridor are most likely to see cold rain, though brief rain–snow mixing cannot be ruled out during late-night hours.

Inland parts of Kent and Sussex counties, especially slightly higher terrain west of Dover, carry a greater chance of seeing sleet or wet snow, though significant accumulation is not expected based on current long-range trends.

While no major winter storm is specifically indicated, the pattern supports multiple weaker systems capable of producing slick spots, reduced visibility, and minor travel delays, especially during early-morning commutes on Route 1, Route 13, and I-95.

As December begins, Delaware residents should watch for shifting temperature trends that may influence which areas see rain versus mixed precipitation.
