WILMINGTON, Del. – Fall sunshine will dominate Delaware through Saturday before a round of late-weekend rain interrupts an otherwise perfect stretch. After a crisp Thursday morning, the region warms steadily into the weekend, offering ideal conditions for outdoor plans across New Castle County and the Brandywine Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, Thursday will be sunny with highs in the low 60s, followed by a warmer Friday reaching near 64°F. Skies remain clear and winds light through Saturday, with highs climbing into the upper 60s to near 70°F. The pattern is driven by a ridge of high pressure over the Mid-Atlantic, keeping conditions calm and humidity low — great for fall events, tailgates, and weekend drives along I-95 or Route 1.

Clouds will increase Saturday night ahead of a cold front expected to arrive Sunday. The NWS forecasts rain chances near 70% late Sunday into Sunday night, with the heaviest showers likely after sunset. Drivers should expect wet pavement and slower traffic on I-495 and Delaware Route 141 heading into Sunday evening. No severe storms are expected, but brief downpours could cause ponding on low-lying roads.

By Monday, skies begin to clear as cooler air filters in from the northwest, signaling a true fall feel to start the new week. Early next week looks drier, with highs returning to the mid-60s and crisp mornings back in play.
