Wilmington, Delaware – Storms will threaten much of Delaware Friday as thunderstorms roll through the region, with Wilmington commuters facing wet roads and potential delays on I-95 and Route 13 during the evening rush.
According to the National Weather Service, showers and scattered thunderstorms are likely after 5 p.m. Friday, with up to 0.75 inches of rain possible by midnight. Calm winds will shift south and increase to 6 mph, raising concerns for sudden downpours and minor flooding in low-lying areas.
Wilmington will hit a high of 76°F Friday, but showers will linger into Friday night before tapering off. The unsettled weather clears Saturday morning, though another round of isolated storms is possible after 2 p.m. Highs will hover near 71°F under partly sunny skies. Dry air returns Saturday night with lows near 51°F.
Sunday offers a break from the rain with full sun and a high of 71°F, making it the best day for outdoor plans across New Castle County.
Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday mark the start of June with a big warm-up. Temperatures climb into the low 80s both days under mostly sunny skies. Monday night stays mild near 63°F. No rain is expected during this early-summer preview.
