Wilmington, Delaware – Summer-like warmth returns to Delaware just in time for Memorial Day, but residents should prepare for a rainy turnaround by Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will enjoy mostly sunny skies Saturday with highs near 67°F and light wind gusts up to 20 mph. Sunday will feel more like summer, topping out at 70°F under clear skies. Memorial Day brings partly sunny conditions and a high of 73°F — perfect for outdoor plans — though clouds begin to build into Monday night.

Local roads, including I-95 and Route 13, could become slick by Tuesday evening as a series of rain showers moves in. NWS reports a 50% chance of precipitation beginning Tuesday night and continuing into Wednesday, when storms could disrupt commutes and cause localized flooding.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items by Monday evening and avoid unnecessary travel late Tuesday if heavy rain materializes. Keep phones charged and watch for any flash flood advisories.

By midweek, temperatures remain mild in the low 70s, but daily shower chances persist through Thursday, with a 30% chance of rain each day.

Five-Day Outlook:

  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high 67°F
  • Sunday: Sunny, high 70°F
  • Memorial Day (Monday): Partly sunny, high 73°F
  • Tuesday: 50% chance of showers, high 69°F
  • Wednesday–Thursday: Rain chances stay at 30–40%, highs in low 70s
