Wilmington, Delaware – Sunny skies won’t last much longer in Delaware, with a wet midweek weather pattern setting up across Wilmington and surrounding areas starting Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are likely after 2 a.m. Tuesday night, with widespread rain expected through at least Thursday. The most intense period will hit Wednesday, with a 90% chance of rain and totals ranging from a quarter to a half inch. That could mean slick morning drives on I-95, I-495, and Route 13.

Tuesday daytime remains dry and pleasant, with highs near 72°F and light northwest winds. But residents should take advantage of the calm—rain moves in late, and conditions will stay soggy through Thursday. By Wednesday morning, expect umbrellas and slow traffic to return.

Rain chances remain at 70% for Thursday, with highs around 61°F. Outdoor plans, lawn care, or any home maintenance should be handled before Tuesday night. Rain could disrupt normal routines midweek, and while no flooding is forecast, water accumulation on roads is likely.

Friday offers some relief with partly sunny skies and a slight shower chance. Temperatures begin to rebound into the high 60s by Saturday.
