According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for New Castle County until 8 p.m. Thursday, with a heat index approaching 99 degrees. Though slightly cooler than earlier this week, Friday’s high of 91°F and intense humidity will keep conditions oppressive. Drivers along I-95, I-495, and Route 141 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads from thunderstorms expected after 2 p.m. Friday, especially during the evening commute.
The chance of thunderstorms rises to 60% by Friday afternoon, with some storms capable of producing heavy rain and gusty winds. Storms may linger into Friday night, followed by a shift to mostly cloudy and drier skies on Saturday.
