Delaware starts the morning with a stiff, biting chill, as temperatures sit near 26°F in Wilmington and leave frost clinging to windshields. Early commuters may notice a few slick spots on bridges and ramps, especially along I-95 and Route 202, where cold air lingers longest.

According to the National Weather Service, conditions improve steadily through the day with highs reaching near 41°F under partly sunny skies. Winds stay light, helping keep roads dry and travel smooth across New Castle County.

A warming trend quickly takes hold. Thursday brings highs near 51°F with partial sunshine, followed by a jump to near 56°F Friday. Clouds increase through the day Friday, signaling the next system. Rain chances begin to rise after 2 a.m. Friday night, with about a 30% chance of showers developing.

Saturday brings the better chance for measurable rain. Showers may linger into the morning before skies gradually brighten. Wet pavement and reduced visibility could slow travel along I-95, I-295, and Route 1 during the early hours. Plan extra time and keep headlights on.

By Sunday, temperatures surge to near 64°F with partly sunny skies, delivering a noticeable shift toward spring warmth across Delaware and nearby Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Even so, cooler nights may still allow isolated slick spots where moisture lingers.

Looking ahead, meteorologists point to above-normal temperatures expanding into early April across much of the East.
