Philadelphia, PA – Temperatures are climbing fast across the region Thursday, bringing a brief taste of spring warmth before rain and cooler air move in overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, highs will reach the low to mid-70s across much of eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware by mid to late afternoon Thursday. Philadelphia is expected to top out near 74 degrees, with similar readings in Trenton, Wilmington, and Reading, while coastal areas like Atlantic City and Long Branch remain cooler in the upper 50s to mid-60s due to onshore flow.
Breezy conditions will develop through the afternoon, especially along the I-95 corridor, adding to fire spread concerns in dry areas and making it feel slightly cooler near the coast. Inland cities including Allentown and Dover will see some of the warmest readings, pushing into the low 70s by 3 to 5 p.m.
Showers begin moving in late Thursday night, first reaching western zones before spreading east toward Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore after 10 p.m., impacting overnight travel on I-76, I-95, and the Atlantic City Expressway.
Cooler air settles in by Friday and continues into the weekend, with additional showers possible as the system exits the region.
