Delaware Teen Arrested in Newark Smoke Shop Burglaries, Police Say

Newark, DE – A 17-year-old from Newark has been arrested and charged in connection with two burglaries at The Smoke Shop in Newark, Delaware, according to Delaware State Police.

Troopers first responded to the store, located at 13 Salem Village Square, on September 23, 2025, around 4:00 a.m. for a burglary report. Police said an unknown suspect, wearing a face mask, forced entry and stole electronic cigarettes and related products valued at about $2,000.

The following morning, September 24, 2025, also at 4:00 a.m., troopers were called back to the same location for a second burglary. According to investigators, the suspect again forced entry and stole another large quantity of electronic cigarettes and related items worth roughly $2,000.

Detectives later identified the 17-year-old as the alleged suspect in both break-ins and secured a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody on September 30, 2025, and transported to Troop 2, where he was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court.

Police said the teen is facing several charges, including wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft, and criminal mischief. He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond following his arraignment.
