Greenwood, DE – A 19-year-old Maryland driver was arrested after a head-on crash late Friday night that left two people hospitalized with serious injuries in Sussex County.

According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded around 11:05 p.m. on September 26, 2025, to a two-vehicle collision on Seashore Highway near Adamsville Road in Greenwood. Investigators say a GMC pickup truck, allegedly driven by Jayden Waters of Delmar, Maryland, crossed into the opposite lane while attempting to pass two tractor-trailers and struck a Chevrolet Tahoe head-on.

Police reported that the driver of the Tahoe, a 43-year-old Georgetown man, and a 13-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital. A 40-year-old Georgetown woman in the vehicle was treated and released. Two children inside the Tahoe were not injured.

Waters was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. After release, he was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including vehicular assault, DUI under 21, and unsafe passing. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released after posting a $4,501 secured bond.

The crash remains under investigation, and Delaware State Police are urging drivers to use caution when traveling on Seashore Highway.
