Philadelphia, PA – Drivers and residents across South Jersey, Philadelphia, and parts of Delaware face a coastal flood advisory tonight, as rising tides threaten low-lying roads and neighborhoods through early Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the advisory covers Camden, Gloucester, Northwestern Burlington in New Jersey, along with Delaware, Philadelphia, and Lower Bucks in Pennsylvania, from 11 p.m. this evening to 4 a.m. Thursday. Inundation could reach up to one foot above ground level in the most flood-prone areas, with partial or full road closures likely along tidal waterways.
High tide is expected to bring minor flooding to areas along the Delaware River—especially in Philadelphia and Burlington, where the water level may rise up to 8.6 feet by 1 a.m. Residents in Kent and New Castle counties in Delaware, as well as Salem, NJ, could also see up to half a foot of water above ground level, with advisories in place from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Travelers should avoid closed roads and never drive through standing water. Move vehicles to higher ground and secure flood-prone property tonight. This event mirrors similar minor coastal flooding seen last July, but officials warn that impacts could be more widespread due to prolonged high tides.
Coastal flood advisories remain in effect overnight, and additional alerts may be issued as conditions develop. Check for the latest updates from local emergency management and the National Weather Service through Thursday morning.
