Wilmington, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested a New Castle man in connection with a stabbing that left a 23-year-old seriously injured at an Amazon facility last month.
According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded to the Amazon delivery center on Bear Corbitt Road around 11:00 a.m. on August 28, 2025, for a reported stabbing. When they arrived, troopers found a 23-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical services transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Investigators identified 35-year-old Taamir Smith of New Castle as the alleged suspect. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant, and on September 23, 2025, members of the Delaware State Police and U.S. Marshals located Smith near 24th Street in Wilmington. He was taken into custody without incident.
Smith was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2 and charged with felony assault in the first degree and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $200,000 cash bond.
The investigation remains ongoing.
