WILMINGTON, DEL. — Streetlights flicker against a restless dawn as gusts whip through tree limbs and rattle signs along I-95. The final hours of a Wind Advisory bring 45–50 mph gusts to the Delaware Valley early this morning before calmer skies and a stretch of mild November warmth arrive just in time for the weekend’s first round of rainy travel weather.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J., winds will ease by midmorning, leaving behind mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing toward 57°F this afternoon. Thursday will stay breezy but pleasant — a short-lived calm before the next system moves in from the Midwest.

By Friday, southerly winds return and pull warmer air north, pushing highs into the low 60s across Wilmington, Philadelphia, and South Jersey. Clouds will thicken through the day, leading to showers late Friday into Saturday morning. While rainfall totals are modest — generally under a quarter inch — brief downpours could slow the Friday evening commute along I-295 and Route 202.

Saturday trends partly sunny with highs near 70°F before another front arrives Sunday, delivering a 70% chance of rain and gusty winds once again. Behind that front, temperatures plunge — signaling the start of an early-season cold snap spreading east before Veterans Day Tuesday, when highs may only reach the 40s.

Residents should secure holiday decorations before winds pick back up this weekend and plan for slick roads Friday night through early Saturday. It’s a brief burst of warmth before winter’s edge reclaims the Mid-Atlantic early next week.
