Delaware – Headlights glow through thick gray air along I-95 as dense fog drops visibility to less than a quarter mile across Wilmington, creating a slow and cautious start to the day.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 10 a.m. for northern Delaware, including New Castle County. Visibility has fallen to 0.25 mile or less in spots. At Wilmington Airport, temperatures sit at 34 degrees with light winds and high humidity, allowing fog to linger near road level.

Drivers on I-95, Route 1, and I-495 should use low-beam headlights and leave extra space between vehicles. Sudden visibility drops remain possible through mid-morning. With temperatures hovering in the 30s, untreated bridges could turn slick if any surface moisture cools briefly.

Rain chances increase later today, especially after mid-afternoon, with highs climbing to 49 degrees. Wet pavement will replace fog as the primary travel concern by evening. Patchy fog may redevelop late tonight as lows dip to around 38.

Thursday brings another round of light rain, with highs near 44. Steadier rain arrives Thursday night into Friday, when highs reach 49. Rainfall may be moderate at times, slowing the Friday commute.

Saturday offers a break with partial sunshine and highs near 51. By Sunday, colder air returns. Rain may mix with or change to snow as highs hover near 40. Any wet roads could refreeze Sunday night as temperatures fall into the upper 20s, raising flash-freeze concerns.

Looking into next week, temperatures trend cooler early, then show signs of moderation later in the week. A gradual warming trend could build toward next weekend.
