PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A powerful coastal storm will bring widespread heavy rain, strong northeast winds, and dangerous coastal flooding to New Jersey, Delaware, and southeastern Pennsylvania from late Saturday night through Monday, threatening power outages, beach erosion, and travel disruptions.

According to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, widespread rainfall of 1–3 inches is expected across the region, with locally higher totals up to 5 inches near the coast. Urban and poor-drainage flooding is likely, especially near the I-95 corridor. Coastal communities from Cape May to Atlantic City could experience moderate to major tidal flooding during high tides Sunday and Monday.

A High Wind Watch is in effect for coastal counties of New Jersey and Delaware, where gusts could reach 55–60 mph. Inland gusts of 30–50 mph are also possible. The NWS warns that downed trees and power outages may accompany the strongest winds. Drivers should use caution, particularly on elevated bridges and along Route 1 and the Garden State Parkway.

Marine conditions will deteriorate quickly Saturday night, with seas of 15–20 feet possible and gale to storm-force winds creating extremely hazardous conditions across the Delaware Bay and Atlantic coastal waters. The NWS warns of substantial beach erosion and dune breaches in some locations.

Residents in flood-prone or coastal areas are urged to move vehicles to higher ground, secure outdoor items, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and high wind. Those along barrier islands should monitor local emergency alerts closely for evacuation updates.
