Delaware – A cold, damp chill hangs over Wilmington this morning as temperatures sit at 32 degrees and a wintry mix taps against windshields. Side streets glisten, and untreated bridges over the Christina River show early signs of slush. The morning drive along I-95 and Route 202 could turn slick in spots through 8 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. for New Castle County in Delaware and neighboring Salem County, New Jersey. Snow accumulations may reach up to one inch, with a light glaze of ice possible. Even thin ice can cause spinouts on ramps and overpasses.

Rain becomes steadier by late morning as temperatures climb toward 44 degrees. Patchy fog may develop this afternoon, reducing visibility for a time. Showers taper later tonight, but damp pavement will linger.

By Wednesday, highs jump to 55 degrees with clouds giving way to brighter skies. That quick rebound melts leftover snow piles fast. Watch for flash-freeze spots after sunset if temperatures dip toward the lower 40s and 30s in outlying areas.

Thursday brings showers again with highs near 56, followed by mostly cloudy skies and a milder 61 degrees Friday. The weekend trends even warmer, with mid-60s possible Saturday and upper 60s Sunday.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer evenings arrive just as March warmth builds. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures into early next week, with 70 degrees not out of the question.
