Cheswold, DE – A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a van on North Dupont Highway left one man dead Friday evening, according to authorities.

At the same time, a Toyota Sienna was traveling eastbound on Rose Bowl Road and had stopped at the intersection’s stop sign.

Police say preliminary findings show the Toyota entered the intersection and crossed into the motorcycle’s path, resulting in a collision with the driver’s side of the van. The impact reportedly ejected the motorcyclist from the bike.

The rider, a 22-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. Authorities are withholding his identity until his next of kin have been notified.

The 74-year-old driver of the Toyota, a man from Smyrna, Delaware, reportedly sustained minor injuries and declined medical transport.
