Philadelphia, PA – Heavy downpours could trigger flash flooding across parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware late Monday, with up to 5 inches of rain possible in just a few hours. Road closures and waterlogged neighborhoods are likely as storms move through urban and low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Flood Watch is in effect from this afternoon through late tonight for counties including Philadelphia, Camden, Wilmington, Trenton, Allentown, and Morristown. The greatest risk is expected between 2 p.m. and midnight, when slow-moving thunderstorms may dump intense rainfall rates.

Communities along the Delaware River—including Bucks, Montgomery, Gloucester, and Salem counties—should prepare for rapidly rising streams, flooded intersections, and dangerous travel. Key roadways such as I-95, Route 1, and the Atlantic City Expressway may see closures or lane restrictions if flooding develops. Local schools and transit could face delays Tuesday morning if high water lingers overnight.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded streets, move vehicles to higher ground, and charge phones in advance of potential power outages. Urban areas with poor drainage are especially vulnerable to flash flooding in short bursts.

The Flood Watch extends through midnight, with more advisories possible if storms stall. Stay tuned for weather updates and be ready to act if a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
