Delaware Driver Hits Pedestrian, Steals Wallet, and Flees in Brazen Gas Station Robbery

Newark, DE – Police are investigating a shocking and violent robbery Wednesday evening at a Shell gas station on East Chestnut Hill Road.

Around 6:45 p.m., a 38-year-old man was walking through the parking lot of the Shell station when a red passenger car sped toward him, striking him at a high rate of speed. Witnesses say the driver got out of the vehicle after hitting the pedestrian, approached the injured victim, and stole his wallet. The suspect then got back into the car and fled the scene, leaving the victim seriously injured on the ground.

According to Delaware State Police, the victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for severe injuries. His condition has not been disclosed.

The suspect is described as a white male. Authorities are analyzing surveillance footage but have not yet released any images or identified the suspect. Investigators believe the robbery was an isolated incident.
