Bowers, DE – Residents east of Whitwells Delight Road in the Town of Bowers are being advised to evacuate immediately due to a growing coastal flooding threat impacting the area tonight.

According to the Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA), an emergency alert was sent through the public alerts system urging residents to leave their homes as high water continues to rise along the coast. The flooding is being driven by persistent onshore winds and elevated tides affecting low-lying communities across Kent County.

To assist evacuees, officials have opened a reception and shelter center at the Magnolia Fire Hall, located at 2 North Main Street in Magnolia, Delaware. The center will remain available until further notice, providing temporary shelter and assistance for displaced residents.

Residents are urged to move quickly and avoid driving through flooded roadways. DEMA officials emphasized that conditions may worsen overnight, and updates will be provided through local media and official state emergency channels.

This evacuation order applies only to residents east of Whitwells Delight Road, but authorities encourage all coastal residents in the area to remain alert for further advisories.
