Ocean City, N.J. – Strong storms are developing along the southern New Jersey and Delaware coastlines, prompting a Severe Thunderstorm Watch through 5 p.m. Friday, with potential impacts for boaters, beachgoers, and inland travelers alike.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the watch includes Sussex County in Delaware and Cape May County in New Jersey, as well as nearby coastal waters from Great Egg Inlet, N.J., to Fenwick Island, Del. Winds up to 60 mph and isolated hail are possible with these fast-moving cells.
Residents in Georgetown, Ocean City, and surrounding communities should remain weather-aware and be prepared to seek shelter if warnings are issued. Mariners in Delaware Bay and along the Atlantic coast are urged to head to safe harbor and monitor VHF radio for marine warnings.
The watch remains in effect until 5 p.m., but further advisories could follow if storms intensify or new cells form. Stay tuned to local alerts and limit time outdoors until the threat passes.
