Georgetown, DE – A freeze warning is in effect across parts of Delaware and Maryland, including Kent and Inland Sussex counties in Delaware and Caroline, Kent MD, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties in Maryland. The National Weather Service issued the alert early Tuesday morning, advising residents that sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28°F are expected between 11 PM tonight and 9 AM Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, frost and freeze conditions could damage sensitive vegetation, crops, and unprotected outdoor plumbing. The freeze warning is particularly concerning for farmers and homeowners with outdoor plants or exposed water systems.

Residents are urged to take immediate steps to protect vulnerable plants, such as bringing them indoors or covering them with frost blankets. Those with outdoor plumbing should take precautions to prevent pipes from freezing, including allowing faucets to drip or insulating exposed pipes.

This freeze event comes as a sudden cold snap, following warmer-than-average temperatures earlier this week. The advisory will remain in effect overnight and end by 9 AM Wednesday, April 9.
