Birmingham, Alabama – A strong heat surge will push temperatures across Alabama into the upper 80s by Saturday afternoon, with a drier pattern limiting thunderstorms and allowing heat to build quickly.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is an 80 to 90 percent probability of above-normal temperatures statewide through early next week. Alabama remains firmly within the expanding 35-state heat zone, though widespread storm activity is expected to stay limited.

Birmingham is expected to reach the upper 80s between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, with similar conditions extending south along the I-65 corridor into Montgomery and north toward Huntsville. Mobile and coastal areas will see mid to upper 80s, with slightly cooler readings near the Gulf due to sea breeze influence.

Thunderstorm activity will remain isolated, with only brief, spotty development possible late in the day. The lack of widespread rain and cloud cover will allow for consistent sunshine and efficient daytime heating across much of the state.

Residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, and prepare for prolonged sun exposure. This warm and mostly dry pattern is expected to persist through early next week, with additional advisories possible if conditions intensify.
