Death Valley, CA – A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck early Friday near Death Valley National Park, shaking areas around Stovepipe Wells. The quake hit at 1:05 a.m., with its epicenter located about 7 kilometers east of Stovepipe Wells.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the tremor reached a depth of 1.6 kilometers. The intensity was categorized as IV on the “Did You Feel It?” scale, indicating light shaking in the region. No reports of significant damage or injuries have emerged.

In a separate event, a 2.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded minutes later near The Geysers, California. Though smaller, these quakes emphasize California’s seismic activity.

Seismologists are urging residents to be prepared for aftershocks, which are common after significant tremors. Emergency services advise residents to check for gas leaks and structural issues.
