Washington, D.C. – Memorial Day will bring dry skies and temperatures in the low 70s across the D.C., Maryland, and northern Virginia region, giving residents a chance to enjoy outdoor tributes and gatherings before a midweek pattern shift brings rain.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, increasing clouds will arrive Tuesday, with rain moving into the area by late afternoon or evening. Showers are expected to continue through much of the day Wednesday, with highs falling into the 60s.

Cities including Baltimore, Rockville, Arlington, and Manassas could see a steady rainfall beginning after 5 p.m. Tuesday, impacting evening commutes and school dismissal times. Wet roads and reduced visibility are likely across I-95, I-270, and the Beltway.

While Memorial Day remains mostly sunny, travelers returning from holiday destinations Tuesday should prepare for slick conditions by nightfall. Those in the western counties and mountain regions, such as Hagerstown and Frostburg, may also experience slightly cooler highs in the 60s on Monday.

Rain chances will remain elevated through Wednesday morning, potentially tapering by the evening. Residents should stay weather-aware, with more advisories possible as the system develops.
