Baltimore, MD – Freezing rain and sleet are set to create hazardous travel conditions across Maryland overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday, warning of icy roads and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service, total sleet accumulation could reach one inch, while ice buildup may be up to one-tenth of an inch. Drivers along I-95, I-83, and local highways should expect slick roads, especially during the Thursday morning commute. Precipitation will start as freezing rain and sleet before transitioning to rain by mid-morning as temperatures rise.

Thursday will see highs in the mid-40s as the ice melts. However, another wintry mix is expected Saturday, bringing a chance of snow and freezing rain before switching to rain. Sunday will be partly sunny, with highs near 40°F.

Maryland residents should prepare for icy conditions tonight and possible travel disruptions Thursday morning. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and check traffic updates before heading out. For the latest road conditions, dial 511.
