Columbus, Ohio – A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move across much of Ohio Saturday, bringing the potential for strong storms and locally heavy rainfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, storms will likely move through the region during the morning and afternoon hours on Saturday as a cold front approaches.

While not every location will experience severe weather, some storms could produce isolated damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours.

Communities including Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Springfield, and Wilmington may see storms as the system moves east across the state.

Drivers traveling along major routes such as Interstate 70, Interstate 71, and Interstate 75 could encounter brief heavy rain, lightning, and reduced visibility as storms pass through.

Forecasters say strong wind gusts could lead to localized tree damage or downed power lines in isolated areas if stronger storms develop.

Additionally, repeated rounds of rainfall may increase the risk of localized flooding, particularly in areas that receive multiple downpours.

The severe weather outlook indicates a Level 2 out of 5 risk for parts of the region, where scattered severe storms could develop, while surrounding areas remain under a lower threat.

Meteorologists emphasize that the timing and strength of storms may change as the system approaches, and additional forecast updates are expected.

Residents across Ohio are encouraged to monitor weather updates and have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially if severe weather alerts are issued Saturday.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve later Saturday evening as the storm system moves east of the region.
