Wilmington, Ohio – Temperatures rising into the 50s Friday and Saturday are bringing above-normal warmth across southwest and central Ohio, affecting travel along I-71, I-75, and I-70.

According to the US National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures will climb back above seasonal averages Friday, with even warmer readings expected Saturday. Normal high temperatures for mid-February in Wilmington are near 41 degrees, but afternoon highs are forecast to reach the low to mid-50s across much of the region.

Friday will feature abundant sunshine, helping boost temperatures across cities including Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Springfield. By Saturday, increasing high clouds are expected, but mild air will remain in place.

Overnight lows Friday night are forecast to dip into the 20s and lower 30s before daytime warming resumes Saturday. The warming trend is part of a broader pattern shift affecting much of the eastern United States.

The extended 6- to 10-day outlook indicates a 63% probability of above-normal temperatures in the Wilmington region, with warmer-than-average conditions likely to persist into next week.

While no hazardous weather is expected, the temperature swing may impact commuters along Interstate 71, Interstate 75, and Interstate 70 during early morning hours as cooler overnight conditions give way to mild afternoons.

Residents can expect a continued stretch of relatively calm and warmer weather compared to seasonal averages.
