Dayton, Ohio – Breezy conditions are expected to develop tonight, followed by strong wind gusts Friday that could affect travel and outdoor activities across the city.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, winds will increase overnight ahead of a cold front. A weak line of showers is forecast to move through the Dayton area Friday morning, with locally enhanced wind gusts possible within the showers.
The strongest winds are expected immediately behind the cold front late Friday morning into the afternoon. Peak wind gusts in Dayton are forecast to reach between 40 and 45 miles per hour, particularly during the midday and afternoon hours.
While widespread damage is not anticipated, gusty winds could make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles and may blow around unsecured outdoor items. Brief visibility reductions are also possible during passing showers Friday morning.
Winds are expected to gradually diminish later Friday evening as the front moves east of the region.
